Biography:

Born and raised in Manhattan, Ray began his career in the creative arts at the famed High School of Performing Arts, in New York City.

A classically trained percussionist, Ray attended the Juilliard School and went on to perform in orchestras, as a Broadway musician, traveling with national and international touring companies of various musical productions, as well as playing for the long-running hit Broadway show, ’A Chorus Line’.

Ray eventually packed up his instruments and ventured forward to fulfill his first true passion which was flying. After 5 years of intense training and flying, Ray landed a job flying a helicopter, reporting morning traffic. Eventually, he began flying for Channel 7 Eyewitness News, shooting video as a camera pilot, or what Ray likes to call "A Mobile Platform Camera Operator".

Shortly thereafter, renowned film pilots, Alan Purwin, and Bobby Zajonc of West Coast Helicopters, introduced Ray to film.  Ray eventually teamed up with Aerial Cinema Productions, the first full-service motion picture aerial company on the east coast. The company continues to produce and fly aerial sequences for various feature films and commercial projects, specializing in helicopter stunt work and second unit aerial directing.

His first job as aerial coordinator was for Timex-Indiglo collaborating with special effects Director JOHN BRUNO.  He then began aerial coordinating and flying camera helicopter for such features as Warner Bros. ’Eraser', MGM"S Kingpin’ and Universal's 'Daylight'.

Ray had his directorial debut when he teamed up with TONY KAYE on the Microsoft commercial campaign. Tony was swamped operating several cameras, and was unable to supervise the aerial portion himself. After a brief meeting, Tony gave Ray the ball and let him run with it!   The final project resulted in two 60 second spots, ‘Gather Up’ and ‘Anthem, featuring Ray’s cuts for the aerial sequences.

Ray has produced and aerial directed for such projects as Prudential Insurance company's commercial spot, ‘Our New Look’. He has aerial directed the opening title sequence for the HBO feature film ‘Stag' and Metro International Films, 'Jeans'.

Action-Adventure 'Chill Factor'. and has also acted as second unit/aerial director for such films as DreamWorks' Production of 'Road Trip' , Universal Studios 'American Pie 2' and visual effects aerial specialist for Paramount Pictures' feature 'Vanilla Sky' directed by Cameron Crowe.

Aerial Cinema Productions, has relocated to the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area, flying above the skies of Southern Florida. Ray has recently become FAA certified sUAS Commercial Pilot to fly UAV/Drones for commercial film and video work under FAA exemption 333 and new Part 107 regulations.
